Run us through your daily routine…
First things first, make a strong cup of coffee. No work day can truly begin until you’ve smelled your first cuppa. Then fire up the old computer and filter through the emails, making sure that all enquiries are answered and any the boss has flagged have been dealt with. Then it’s a mixture of receptionist work and admin work. I answer the phones, work out quotes, process invoices and deal with wages.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
The best part of my job, apart from working with my family, is the people i meet. Although most of the people i speak to are over the phone, you build up a good relationship. I like organising different jobs and having good banter with people.
What do you find most challenging?
I find it challenging turning people down for deliveries. This can happen because we are so busy and have no bodies available to do the work. It’s especially hard when it’s a regular customer who might have had a last minute delivery request and all our drivers are already out. You feel like you are letting them down, but on the plus side all our team are busy ensuring other deliveries are being made safely and on time!
